Mobile alerts
We have improved our text alert service.
If you register, you'll get limit alerts (when you're near to or over your account limit so you can avoid any unplanned overdraft fees), high and low balance alerts (high balance alerts to let you know when to move excess money into a savings account and low balance alerts to help make sure you always have enough money in your account for the things you want to do), weekly balance alerts (a weekly text with your balance and the last six transactions of the week, on a week day and time you choose) and more.
Has the service changed?
Yes. The mobile number you provide must be a UK registered mobile number.
We will send you a text alert every few days to remind you that you are still overdrawn, no more than 4 alerts per week.
Is the service still free?
Yes, there are no fees to pay for the enhanced service however, your mobile operator may charge for some services, please check with them.
Do I need to do anything?
If you are already registered for text alerts, you don’t need to do anything unless your registered mobile is a non-UK mobile in which case you will need to re-register using a UK mobile. You will receive the text alerts in line with the enhanced service.
If you are not currently registered, you can do so via the website, or by ringing the Banking helpline, or by visiting your local branch.
Are there any other services I can register for?
Yes, there are 3 other options you may wish to consider:
- Overseas alerts on debit card transactions and ATM withdrawals.
- Threshold alerts where you can select the upper and lower limits for your account balance and receive alerts accordingly
- Weekly balance alerts
