How we use the information you provide to us is detailed below:
Data Protection Act
Data Protection Act - Any information you provide will be held by Halifax General Insurance Services Limited and St Andrew´s plc. Members of our group of companies may use it to inform you by letter, telephone, email or otherwise about any products and services and those selected third parties, unless you have asked us not to do so.

We will contact you by email in relation to your Home Insurance quote. When you take out a Home Insurance policy, we would like to contact you by email and other means to inform you of other products offered by the HBOS group.
The following are definitions of the information we ask for to calculate your claim:
Material Facts
Material facts are information that the insurer requires to know about you and your home in order to assess your cover and premium. If there is a change in circumstances and you do not tell the insurer at the start of your policy, it could lead to the wrong terms being quoted, a claim being rejected, the payment being reduced or the policy being invalid.
An example of a material fact about your home would be the use of your home to conduct business. An example of a material fact about you would be that you have made a claim in the last 5 years. You must disclose all relevant material facts.
You and Anyone Residing at the Property
This information is taken on behalf of you and any member of your family residing at your home. (Family includes partners and adopted and fostered children.)

Convictions

Claims or Losses
When assessing whether this applies to you, you must include details of items/events where loss or damage occurred regardless of whether a claim was made or whether it was paid or not. You must consider number, type, nature and cost as a result of the loss or damage.
Where an incident resulted in a claim under both the buildings and contents section of your policy, this should be as two previous claims (one for buildings and one for contents)
Your home has not suffered from subsidence, landslip or heave
Has your home been damaged by subsidence, landslip or heave, or does it show any sign of cracking or bulging of the walls? Has your home been underpinned recently or is it subject to an ongoing monitoring claim?
Early stages of subsidence can be shown by zigzag cracking in the mortar joints on the exterior of the building, heavy clay soils such as London clay can be susceptible to subsidence, especially if trees are planted close to the foundations. Sunken pathways would indicate a possible collapse or defect linked to drains.
Pathways that have risen and broken up would indicate heave or root lift, both of these faults may be linked to the presence of trees. Internally, plasterwork cracks would usually tend to be more than 5mm in width.
