Managing and servicing your mortgage

If you're already a Halifax mortgage customer, we'll do everything we can to help you get the most from your mortgage by managing your account.

What do you want to do?  How you do it...
Change my name To change your name details, please visit your nearest branch, taking with you your original name-change documentation (Marriage Certificate, Deed Poll, etc).
Change my mortgage term To request a change to your current mortgage term, either to shorten or extend the term, please visit your nearest branch, or call 0845 602 9717.
A change to your mortgage term will mean that your monthly mortgage payment is amended accordingly.
Make regular extra payments

To make extra regular payments please visit your nearest branch, or call 0845 602 9717.

If your current mortgage is not subject to an Early Repayment Charge (ERC) you could make unlimited overpayments to your mortgage. If your current mortgage is subject to an ERC you can still overpay by up to 10% of the amount of your mortgage that is subject to an ERC during any 12 month rolling period without incurring the charge.

Make a one off lump sum payment

To make a one off lump sum payment please visit your nearest branch, or call 0845 602 9717.

Your monthly mortgage payment will be recalculated following your lump sum payment. However, if you want to continue to pay the same monthly payment we can recalculate the remaining mortgage term.

Take a payment holiday

A mortgage payment holiday means you could take a break from paying your mortgage for up to six months over the life of your mortgage. They are available for a variety of reasons usually to assist with a temporary change to your circumstances like a change in employment, maternity leave or unexpected or unforeseen vehicle or household expenditure. There are qualifying criteria for a mortgage payment holiday like the length of time you have had your mortgage and your loan to value.

Although mortgage payment holidays may help in the short term, interest will still accrue and any missed payments will need to be made up over the remainder of the mortgage term, meaning that your contractual monthly payments will increase.

To find out if you qualify or to request a mortgage payment holiday call 0845 602 9717 or visit your nearest branch
