Registering and Qualifying

Registering. You only need to do it once.

Registering is easy and you only need to do it once to be entered into all future monthly draws where you meet the qualifying criteria. You simply need to:

If you don’t register you won’t be entered but you can register even if you don't qualify so you can rest assured that, when you meet the qualifying criteria, you will be in with a chance to win.

One last thing. There’s only one entry per customer, so we can’t accept multiple registrations.

Qualifying. All you need to know

To qualify for our Halifax Saver Prize Draw, there are only a few boxes to tick. You’ll need to:

  • Be over 18 and live in England, Wales or Scotland
  • Hold one or more qualifying Halifax or Bank of Scotland savings accounts
  • Register to take part
  • Keep a total balance in your qualifying accounts of at least £5,000 for the whole calendar month before each draw.

That monthly qualifying figure…how does it work again?
If you’ve got your eye on winning the January 2016 Superdraw, you’d need a total balance of £5,000 in one or more qualifying savings accounts from the 1st to the 31st December 2015 inclusive. And you’d need to have registered by 31st December 2015 too.

And what about joint accounts?
If you share a joint account and you both wish to enter, you’ll need to register individually. We’ll then split the account total in half to work out if your balance qualifies. For example if you have £6,000 in a joint qualifying savings account it counts as £3,000 each.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn't the Prize Draw available overseas or in Northern Ireland?
Under the Gambling Act 2005, we are permitted to offer this type of Prize Draw in England, Wales and Scotland. Different legislation applies to overseas and Northern Ireland, so unfortunately it's not possible to offer the Prize Draw outside England, Wales and Scotland.

Are investment funds counted towards the £5,000 savings balance requirement?
No, eligible balances must be held in qualifying Halifax and/or Bank of Scotland personal retail savings accounts, excluding children's accounts. Balances can be held in one or more accounts. Funds held in investment products, such as Stocks & Shares ISAs including ISA Investor, are not counted towards the £5,000 savings balance requirement.

Does money in a current account count towards the £5,000 savings balance requirement?
No, any balances held in current accounts will not be counted towards the £5,000 savings balance requirement.

Do I have a greater chance of winning if I register more than once?
No, you won't have a greater chance of winning if you register more than once. Entries are limited to one per person per month. If we receive multiple entries, then only the last entry received will be entered into the draw.

If I have several savings accounts, do I need to register each one separately?
No. Entries are limited to one per person per month regardless of how much you have saved, or the number of savings accounts you hold. You only need to register using one of your accounts and we will calculate your qualifying balance from all of your accounts.

How do funds held in joint savings accounts count towards the £5,000 savings balance requirement?
If funds are held in joint accounts, then the balance will be split equally between each account holder when calculating each account holder's qualifying balance. For example, where there are two joint account holders this will be 50%. Each account holder will need to register separately if you both want the chance to win.

How will winners be notified?
After the draw has been completed (by the end of the third working day of each month) and the independent adjudicators have approved the results, winners are notified individually by letter using recorded delivery. Winner letters will be sent before the end of the month of the draw, to the address held on our records.

How do I claim my prize?
Winners will be asked to visit their local branch to claim their prize. Please read the identification and verification information in the letter to ensure you take the correct documentation with you. Winners will also be given the Prize Draw Helpline number in case of difficulty getting into a branch. Please note that branch colleagues will only be able to confirm prizes once all of the final checks have been satisfactorily completed.

Can I see a list of winners?
You can see an interactive map of winners or get the list of winners for the previous 6 months, by name and county on our Winners near me website. The list can also be requested from any of our branches. The list will be mailed direct to you by the Prize Draw Team.
