About our switching offer

To qualify for the £75, use the Current Account Switch Service to transfer and close your old account held elsewhere. Excludes anyone who's had a cash back for switching to Halifax since January 2012. You’re still eligible to use the switch service if you don’t qualify for the switching offer.

You will only receive the £75 switching offer if you switch into a new or existing Reward Current Account, Ultimate Reward Current Account (£15 monthly fee), or an existing Current Account if opened before 3rd December 2016. You are not eligible if you are switching to a Basic Account or a Student Account.

We’re afraid you're not eligible for the offer if the bank you’re switching from doesn’t participate in the Current Account Switch Service. To find out if your bank participates, visit the Payments Council website.

Making sure you get a fair deal

We want you to find a product that's right for your circumstances, which is why we adhere to the Standards of Lending Practice, which are monitored and enforced by the Lending Standards Board

To find out more you can read the statement of responsibilities, which details what's expected of us, the lender and you the borrower.

Representative Example

For Ultimate Reward Current Account, Reward Current Account and Current Accounts - if you use a planned overdraft of £1,200, then we'll charge you a daily fee of £1.

For Ultimate Reward Current Accounts, you will pay the higher monthly account fee of £15 rather than £12 if you use your overdraft. This means there will be an indirect additional cost of £3 if you use a planned overdraft on this account.

If you have a Student Current Account and use a planned overdraft of £1,200, the interest rate we charge will be 0% EAR variable.

EAR is the equivalent annual rate. This is the actual annual interest rate for an overdraft. It doesn’t take into account fees and charges.

Monthly Maximum Charge (MMC) for Unplanned Overdraft Fees and Interest

The Monthly Maximum Charge for your Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Current Account will be £95.

This is the maximum amount that, under our charging policy and terms and conditions, we will charge in any monthly billing period for
using (or trying to use) an Unplanned Overdraft from 2nd August 2017. The wording below explains what the MMC covers:

Monthly cap on unarranged overdraft charges

  1. Each current account will set a monthly maximum charge for:
    (a) going overdrawn when you have not arranged an overdraft; or
    (b) going over/past your arranged overdraft limit (if you have one).
  2. 2. This cap covers any:
    (a) interest and fees for going over/past your arranged overdraft limit;
    (b) fees for each payment your bank allows despite lack of funds; and
    (c) fees for each payment your bank refuses due to lack of funds.

1 Whether you can have an overdraft and the amount will depend upon your personal circumstances at the time you apply for one. Any overdraft we agree is subject to status. Overdrafts are repayable on demand.[^]
2 The Ultimate Reward Current Account will cost £15 a month. However, if in the previous calendar month you pay in £750 or more and pay out at least 2 different direct debits and remain in credit you’ll pay the lower monthly account fee of £12. You’ll also need to keep your account open/not change it to a different type of current account until the fee is due to be debited (by the second working day of the following calendar month).[^]
3 Provided and underwritten by AXA Insurance UK plc.[^]
4 AA Breakdown Cover, including Home Start, provided by Automobile Association Developments Limited (trading as AA Breakdown Services).[^]
5 Mobile phone insurance arranged and administered by STAMS Limited with a single insurance provider, Assurant General Insurance Limited.[^]
6 Home emergency cover underwritten by Inter Partner Assistance S.A.[^]
7 Card Cancellation is provided by Citymain Administrators Ltd (part of the SPB UK & Ireland Group Companies).[^]

Halifax current accounts and services are offered subject to status. Available only to personal customers aged 18 or over who are resident in the UK.

Whether you can have an overdraft and the amount will depend upon your personal circumstances at the time you apply for one. Any overdraft we agree is repayable on demand, including any fees or interest.
