    How does switching work

    We'll move your payments for you

    • Incoming payments, e.g. your salary.
    • Outgoing payments, e.g. bills.
    • Direct debits, e.g. an internet bill.
    • Standing order, e.g. paying money into a savings account.
    • Money in your account, e.g. if your account has a £500 balance then we will transfer £500 into your new account.

    You can choose the date you want to switch.

    Keep in mind

    If any payments go to your old account after the switch.
    We will arrange for payments accidentally made to your old account to be automatically redirected to your new account. We will also contact the sender and give them your new account details.

    If something goes wrong.
    You're covered by the Current Account Switch Guarantee. If anything goes wrong with the switch, as soon as we are told, we will refund any interest (paid or lost) and charges made on either your old or new current accounts as a result of this failure.

Switch into a new or existing Halifax Reward Current Account, Ultimate Reward Current Account (£17 monthly fee applies) or an existing Current Account if opened before 3rd December 2016, and close your old account held elsewhere. If you’ve already received cashback for switching to us since January 2012 we’re sorry but you won’t get it again.

    2 The Ultimate Reward Current Account will cost £17 a month. However, if in the previous calendar month you pay in £750 or more and pay out at least 2 different direct debits and remain in credit you will receive a discount of £2, reducing your monthly account fee to £15. You'll also need to keep your account open/not change it to a different type of current account until the fee is due to be debited (by the second working day of the following calendar month).
