Extra easy payments with Android Pay.

Quick, easy payments

You can use Android PayTM with your Halifax debit or credit card. It’s the simple, secure way to make everyday payments with your Android phone using the latest contactless technology. It’s safe and secure because when you shop at a retailer, Android Pay doesn’t send your actual credit or debit card number with your payment. Instead we use a virtual account number to represent your account information – so your card details stay safe.

How it works

Android Pay can be used on Android devices with contactless capability (NFC), running on Android 4.4 (KitKat®) Operating System or newer and the Android Pay app downloaded. Some card restrictions apply.*

To protect you from fraud, we may restrict the value or number of payments you can make using Android Pay, so please make sure you carry your debit and credit cards with you just in case. Some retailers will also limit individual payments to £30.

Setting up Android Pay on your device

To use Android Pay you need to have the app installed, so check if you already have it on your device. If not, go to the Google Play store and search Android Pay. If you can see it on the Google Play store it means your device is compatible.

You can add your Halifax debit or credit cards to Android Pay in a few simple steps:

  • Tap the + sign in the app
  • Add in your card details and address details
  • Review and accept the Halifax terms of use
  • Verify your cards for security then follow the on-screen instructions
  • You’ll be prompted to set up a screen lock, if you don’t already have one.

Using Android Pay

For in store payments under £30, simply wake your device and hold it near the contactless reader (no need to open the app). Your device will beep or vibrate, and you'll receive a confirmation on screen to show your payment was made.

For in app purchases, look for the “Buy with Android Pay” button at checkout. Tap it and follow the prompts to complete your payment.

Payment will always be taken from the default card in your Android Pay wallet.
