Direct debit information
You don't need to bank with us to pay by direct debit. You can use any account that can have direct debits set up.
Direct debits can now be set up online, over the phone or through the post.
We’ll notify you at least ten days before if we have to make changes to the amount, date or frequency to be debited. If we make an error, you’re entitled to an immediate refund from your bank or building society. You can cancel a direct debit instruction at any time simply by writing to your bank or building society.
To set up your direct debit instruction online you need to provide the following information (your cheque book contains all the bank details that you require):
- Bank or building society account name, account number and sort code.
If this is your account, press the 'Proceed by Online' button to buy.
Banks and building societies may not accept direct debit instructions for certain types of account.
The details of your direct debit instruction will be sent to you within three working days. This will confirm your bank details, the amount to be debited and a summary of the details based on your quote.
You’ll also receive confirmation of the first payment date from the insurer. This will be sent at least five working days before the payment is debited together with details of future payment dates and your policy document.
