Questions and answers about the announcement
What is a Halifax agency?
A Halifax agency provides a limited banking service and is run by another company on our behalf.
Why are you closing the agency counters?
The decision to close the counter services provided by our agency network was not taken lightly. Following a thorough review, we have concluded that offering a counter service through another company is no longer right for our business. As a result, we will be closing the counters that are offered by independent agents on behalf of Halifax.
What will happen to the counter staff at the agency?
The agency counter staff are employed by the independent agent, not Halifax. Staff will have the opportunity to apply for roles within Halifax branches. We are hopeful that a significant number will take jobs within our branch network.
* Lines open Monday to Saturday 8am – 8pm and Sunday 9am – 4pm. Calls may be monitored for security reasons and to help with training.
