Credit card interest rates
The current interest rates for your existing credit card are shown on your monthly statement which you can choose to receive by post or online using our paper free service.

Cashback
Credit cards with a cashback facility, allow you to recoup a percentage of the cost of your day to day purchases as a reward. For details of your cashback, please refer to your Credit Card Conditions.
The amount of cashback you have earned can be found on your monthly statement, which you can choose to receive by post or online using our paper free service.

Fees and charges
- Missed / late payment - £12.00
- Returned payment - £12.00
- Exceeding card spending limit - £12.00
- Stopped credit card cheques (excludes lost or stolen cheques) - £10
- Duplicate card statement - £5
- Statement date change - £5
- Foreign currency payment - £10
If you miss a monthly payment, you are in breach of your Credit Card Conditions and use of your card may be suspended. We may contact you regarding this. If you exceed your credit limit, your account will be blocked and you will need to pay the excess amount before, or along with, your next monthly payment.
Please note that missed or late payments will be recorded on your credit file and could affect your future credit rating.
Balance transfers
You can transfer a balance of £100 or more to your Halifax credit card from another card provider online. If you would like more information on how to make balance transfers online please click here. If you do not currently bank online with us, you can find out more and register here.
Alternatively you can call us on 08457 28 38 48 (8am - 10pm Mon - Fri & 8am - 7pm Sat - Sun), give us the transfer details (amount, account number and card issuer) and we'll take care of the rest. The transfer should take no more than ten working days. We will only transfer balances within your credit limit, so please check your available credit before transferring a balance.
Balance transfers can be made from most credit and some store cards, excluding other Halifax or Bank of Scotland products. We usually charge a fee for making balance transfers. The amount of the fee will be shown in your Credit Card Conditions.
Changing your credit limit
Your current credit limit is shown on your monthly statement, which you can choose to receive by post or online with our paper free service.
We are happy to review your credit limit based on an assessment of your ability to pay the new amount, though you must have held the card for at least 6 months.

From time to time your credit limit may be increased automatically. If this happens, you will be advised in writing. However, should you not wish to benefit from the increase, or want to decrease your credit limit, simply call 08457 28 38 48 (8am - 10pm Mon - Fri & 8am - 7pm Sat - Sun).
