Existing Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) Customers
What is PPI?
Our PPI products provide a range of covers including:
- Unemployment - if you’re in work and become involuntarily unemployed.
- Accident and sickness - if you can’t work due to an accident or sickness.
- Carer cover - if you leave work to become a carer for a relative.
Our Credit Card Repayment cover also includes:
- Life - if you die during the period of cover.
- Critical illness - if you’re diagnosed with a critical illness.
- Hospitalisation - if you have to stay in hospital for 5 days in a row. Cover only applies if you’re permanently retired or 70 or over.
Halifax no longer sells PPI. If you’re looking for an alternative protection product, MoneyHelper provides independent support and information to help you find the cover you need.
When should I review my Payment Protection Insurance?
- If your PPI covers your mortgage payments, check your cover when your monthly payment changes. Think about whether your monthly benefit should change too. It won’t update automatically so if you need to change it, please call us.
- If you permanently retire, you must let us know.
- If you leave the UK to live abroad permanently, you need to call us. We can’t insure you if you don’t live in the UK.
