Annual cover includes travel disruption cover as standard, covering unused travel and accommodation costs in event of: missed departure as a result of public transport being cancelled or delayed for 12 hours or more, insolvency of providers or severe weather events meaning you’re unable to use your booked accommodation, and more. Conditions and limits apply.

Travel the globe without the worry. If you’re planning a long trip, world explorer insurance covers any trip up to 365 days long.

Whichever Halifax Travel Insurance option you choose, you’ll have peace of mind that you’ll be properly looked after too. Halifax Travel Insurance agents are used to helping holidaymakers with all kinds of mishaps.

Policy excess

Where you and your family make a claim under more than one section of cover for the same incident, the maximum excess you will pay is £50 in total unless you have selected a different excess limit as shown in your Policy Schedule which will then apply.

^Top

Pre-existing/known medical conditions

When taking out the policy you must take reasonable care to answer all of the questions asked accurately and completely. This includes questions about any medical condition that you or anyone that will be insured under the policy is currently aware of. Failure to do so could invalidate your policy or affect future claims. You must also tell the Travel Department if any of your answers to the questions changes after taking out the policy, such as if a medical condition changes or a new one arises. You can notify them by calling 0800 032 1751. A member of staff will discuss the condition and confirm whether you are covered. You or the named traveller will not be covered if either of you were aware of the condition at the time of applying for cover and did not disclose it when asked..

^Top

Children travelling with you

You can cover your children and grandchildren on your family policy as long as they are under the age of 16 or under the age of 23 and in full time education

^Top

Travelling under a family insurance policy

The lead traveller and partner are able to travel independently under a family insurance policy, but children named on the policy must be travelling with at least one named adult.

^Top

Travel insurance documents

You can travel without your travel insurance documents, although we always advise to take the policy booklet and schedule with you as this explains what you need to do in an emergency and also provides useful contact numbers. If you do not take the policy documents, you should take the emergency contact numbers.

What we cover:

^Top

Missed flights

We cover missed flights if the scheduled public transport service fails to get you to the airport on time due to strike, industrial action, adverse weather conditions or mechanical breakdown. We would also provide cover if the private car you are travelling in breaks down or is directly involved in an accident.

^Top

Cancelled flights

We will cover you for unused travel, accommodation and other pre-paid charges if you have to cancel your trip because your flight has been delayed or cancelled for more than 12 hours and you cannot claim back from any other source.  Limits and exclusions apply please review the policy documents for further information.

^Top

Tour operators going bust

If the insolvency of the provider or booking agent means that you are unable to use your booked accommodation and you have to cancel your trip as a result, you will be covered for your unused travel, accommodation and any other pre-paid charges that cannot be claimed back from any other source. Limits and exclusions apply please review the policy documents for further information.

Terrorist activity

You are not covered under this policy if you cancel your trip for this reason.
