How to apply for a mortgage

You can apply for a Halifax mortgage safely and securely online using our online application form. It will take around 20 minutes to complete for a single applicant and 30 minutes for joint applicants.

You will need to have to hand the following information:

• Your addresses for the last three years
• Any existing accounts with Halifax
• Your employment and income details for the last 18 months
• Any credit commitments
• Details of your current mortgage or tenancy, if applicable
• The details of the property you're buying

Once you have submitted the form, an advisor will contact you at your preferred time to progress your application. They will give you a full quote of how much your new mortgage will cost every month, and answer any outstanding questions you may have.
