Let’s take a closer look

    • You can make payments to your credit card account at any time. You do need to pay at least the minimum amount shown on your statement each month.
    • If you can't pay the whole statement balance, it's a good idea to pay as much as you can. It may help to keep any interest costs down.
    • If you only make the minimum payment each month, it will take longer and cost you more to pay off your balance.
    • If you miss a payment, you are likely to be charged a late fee and damage your credit rating. You could also lose any promotional rates on your credit card and have to pay the standard interest rate instead.
    • Set up a regular Direct Debit payment and we’ll automatically claim your selected payment amount when it’s due.
    • If a Direct Debit isn’t taken for 37 months, it will become inactive, and your bank or building society will remove the details from their systems. If this happens, you’ll need to set up a new one.
    • You can also make payments in other ways. For example, from a bank account, with a debit card, by cheque or with cash at a branch. You can do this even if you have a Direct Debit set up.
    • If you choose to make one-off payments, make sure the method you use will get your payment to us on time.
    • If a direct debit isn’t taken for 37 months, it will become inactive, and your bank or building society will remove the details from their systems. If this happens, you’ll need to set up a new one.
    • When your direct debit is in place, it will show on your statement and your online account. Until then, continue to make payments yourself.
    • Direct debit payments can be monthly for one of three payment options:

    - Just the minimum. We'll take the minimum payment due plus any instalment plan payment.

    - The full statement balance. We'll take the outstanding account balance when your statement was produced.  If you have a direct debit set up to pay your overall balance and you have an instalment plan we will adjust your direct debit to cover your main balance in full and any instalment plan payments.

    - An amount set by you. If this set amount is less than the minimum payment due, we'll take the minimum payment plus any instalment plan payment due.

    • Always make sure you have enough money in your account to cover both your direct debit and any extra payments.
    • If you have a direct debit set up, any extra payments won’t usually reduce your direct debit amount.
    • To help you manage your account we may increase your payment if:

    - You usually pay a percentage and it's not enough to cover your minimum payment.

    - You have any missed payments or reduce your payment to avoid putting your account into credit.

    • If you cancel your direct debit near your due date, we may not be able to cancel the current payment. It will already have begun processing.
    • Once the direct debit has been cancelled, you'll need to pay at least the minimum amount each month.
    • Please allow enough time for your payment to reach your account before the date it's due.
  • You can change your payment due date to better suit your needs. For example, if you usually receive your salary later than your due date falls.

The fastest way to do this is through our Mobile Banking app or Online Banking on a laptop or desktop computer.

    • On the Mobile Banking app, from your credit card account summary select the 3 dots, scroll to Manage Account. Select Change payment due date to begin.
    • To use Online Banking, sign in or register  to get started. From your credit card account summary, select ‘More actions’, then ‘Paying your credit card’. Here, select ‘Request payment due date change’.

Just be aware, your change may apply to a future payment, rather than the next one, depending on when you make your request.
