Changing your loan direct debit account

To change the account from which you pay your monthly direct debit, call our Customer Services team on:

  • If your loan starts with 7/ call 08457 24 34 44 (lines open Monday to Friday 8am - 10pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am - 6pm)
  • If your loan starts with 84 call 08457 44 44 55 (lines open Monday to Friday 8am -10pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am - 6pm)
  • If your loan starts with 100 call 08456 04 72 92 (lines open Monday to Sunday 8am - 10pm).

Please give us 15 days notice before your next payment is due.

Changing your address

To change the address on your loan, please print off and complete our change of details form on our Help Centre change your address page and take the completed form to your nearest branch.

Early repayment

You can get an early settlement quote for your loan by calling our Customer Services team:

  • If your loan starts with 7/ call 08457 24 34 44 (lines open Monday to Friday 8am - 10pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am - 6pm)
  • If your loan starts with 84 call 08457 44 44 55 (lines open Monday to Friday 8am -10pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am - 6pm)

Alternatively, you can write to us at:

You can repay your loan in full at any time. Please note that while we don’t charge for settling your loan early for Clarity Loan customers, an early settlement adjustment may be made on our other loan products.

Can I make additional payments?

You can repay your loan in part at any time during the repayment period and we'll reduce the charge for credit you've agreed to pay us. Lump sum payments towards your outstanding unsecured loan balance will not change your monthly repayment amount or the interest rate.
It will mean the total amount you have to repay is reduced and you will repay your loan earlier.
If you want to make a lump sum payment, please send a cheque payable to 'Halifax' with your name and loan agreement number written on the back of the cheque to:

Finding out the amount left to pay on your secured loan (Further Advance)

If you're already registered for our online service, just add your mortgage on to My accounts, and the balance will be shown on the Account summary screen.

The figure shown is not the final outstanding balance - for an exact figure, call 08456 03 03 52 (lines open Monday to Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 9am-4pm) and we'll send you one in the post.

When do I need to make my first repayment?

Your first repayment is due within one month from the date the loan is opened. We charge interest for the complete duration of the loan including the period between the start of your loan and your first repayment.

Can I change my payment date?

You can change your repayment date at any time by calling our Customer Service team on:

  • If your loan starts with 84 call 08457 44 44 55 (lines open Monday to Friday 8am -10pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am - 6pm)

Once the loan has been opened we cannot change the term of your loan. But you can make over payments which means you'll repay the loan sooner.

In case of financial difficulties/struggling to meet repayments

If due to a change of circumstances you're struggling to repay the loan, please call us in confidence.
If you do not have repayment protection insurance, please call 08708 50 13 16 (lines open Monday to Friday 8.30am-7.30pm, Saturday 8.30am-12.30pm).

 If you do have loan insurance, please call 0845 606 1654 (lines open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday 9am-1pm).

You cannot miss a payment and 'catch up' the following month. If you miss a monthly payment, or are late in making a payment, your loan will be transferred to our Collections Team and you will be charged a fee of £25.
