How to make a lump sum overpayment


From a Halifax account

You can make a lump sum overpayment by signing into Online Banking or our Mobile Banking app.

Not registered? No problem. Register for Online Banking.


From another bank account

You can send a payment from another bank account using:

    • Sort code 30-00-00
  • Account number 00332275
  • Your 14 digit mortgage account number with 00 on the end as your reference e.g. 10**********00

If you want to overpay on a sub-account - use the two digit sub account number instead e.g. 10**********02.

Call our automated phone line on 0345 727 3747 to make payments up to £5,000. This line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you want to pay more or you want to talk to us then call on 0345 122 1439. We're open Mon-Fri: 8am-8pm Sat: 9am-4pm. Otherwise, come and see us in branch.

  • You'll need your 14 digit account number. If paying over the phone, please add 00 to the end e.g. 10**********00.
  • If you want to overpay a sub-account, use the two digit sub-account number instead e.g. 10**********02.
  • We can only take debit card payments from customers named on the mortgage. We don't accept credit cards or debit Mastercards (cards beginning with a 5).

Prefer to pay by cheque?

Make it payable to 'Halifax' followed by your name and your 14 digit mortgage account number with 00 on the end. If you want to overpay a sub-account, use the two digit sub-account number instead e.g. 10************02.

You can pay your cheque in at your local branch.
