Here’s what you need to know:

  1. You need to have applied for a mortgage between 8th April and 30th June 2019
  2. And register for the Prize Draw and complete on your mortgage by 30th September 2019

  • The amount we’ll pay off, is the balance of the mortgage at the time of the draw, up to the value of £300,000.
  • For each winning customer, only one qualifying mortgage entered into the draw will be paid off.
  • Available to home buyers, those remortgaging to us and existing Halifax customers changing those named on their mortgage.
  • Offer can be withdrawn at any time and excludes: buy to let, additional borrowing, product transfer, applications through Halifax Intermediaries & entries from Northern Ireland.

THE HALIFAX MORTGAGE PRIZE DRAW TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

  1. This is a free prize draw – the Draw. The Draw is open to homebuyers, those re-mortgaging to us from another lender and existing Halifax customers applying to change the named parties on their mortgage who live in England, Wales or Scotland and are taking a new Halifax mortgage on their home in one of these countries and who:
    1. Make a full application directly to us for a Halifax mortgage between 8th April and 30th June 2019; and
    2. Register by 30th September 2019 to take part; and
    3. Complete their Halifax mortgage by 30th September 2019.
    4. For each winning customer, only one qualifying mortgage entered into the draw will be paid off. This is included within the marketing material, it is required for this campaign due to the change in the heading. We need to be clear that only the mortgage entered into the draw will be paid off.
    5. The mortgage application must be made directly to us in one of our Halifax or Bank of Scotland branches, online or by telephone. Applications made through an intermediary will not qualify.
    6. A full application is completed when customers have seen, read and accepted the mortgage illustration, provided details on the property being mortgaged and paid any valuation fees where applicable.
    7. Members of the Armed Forces with a BFPO address can enter the Draw.
  2. You are not eligible for the Draw if you or any other person named on the mortgage:
    1. are employees of any company in Lloyds Banking Group; or
    2. become an employee of Lloyds Banking Group after you have registered for the Draw; or
    3. are engaged as a supplier, or employed by a supplier and directly involved in or help with the Draw.
    4. This Draw is not available in Northern Ireland.
    5. Buy to let applications and applications made by existing Halifax customers, to switch products or take additional borrowing, will not qualify for the Draw.
  3. The prizes for the Draw are:
    1. Three prizes to pay off the winners’ Halifax mortgage registered for the Draw, up to a maximum of £300,000. These will be:
    2. Paid directly to the mortgage account registered for the Draw. There is no cash alternative.
    3. If the mortgage is more than £300,000 and there is more than one part to the loan, we will reduce each part by the same proportion that we apply the monthly payments.
    4. Any early repayment charges which would normally be payable will be waived.
    5. 100 prizes of £1,000 paid directly to the direct debit account from which the mortgage registered for the Draw is set up. Where the receiving account is in a sole name, and the mortgage is held in the name of more than one borrower, the receiving borrower will be responsible for distributing the prize between all borrowers.
    6. Within 30 days of the Draw we will write to the potential winners. If you have won a prize we will tell you how to claim it, including what proof we’ll require.
    7. Winners have the right to refuse the prize.
  4. The Draw will take place on 15th October 2019 and be independently verified by a senior manager outside of our mortgage division. Hawk Incentives Ltd is a third party administrator and helps us collect and process certain details of customers who register for the Draw.
  5. To be included in the Draw, you must meet conditions 1 and 2 to be a qualifying customer and be registered for the Draw. You can register:
    1. By entering online at www.halifax.co.uk/mortgage-prize-draw; or
    2. Through one of our branches; or
    3. By calling us to request a postal entry.
    4. Once we receive your correctly completed entry, you’ll be automatically entered into the Draw provided your mortgage has completed by 30th September 2019.
  6. We will try our best to make sure that all qualifying customers are entered into the Draw.
  7. There will be one Draw entry for each eligible mortgage account. This means if you have taken the mortgage account out with other borrowers there will only be one draw entry. By entering the Draw, you confirm that you have obtained the consent of any other persons named on the mortgage to enter the Draw. If multiple entries are received from a customer, then only the last entry received will be entered into the Draw.
  8. All customers entered into the Draw have an equal chance of winning.
  9. You will not be entered into the Draw if you have not completed the new Halifax mortgage which you registered for the Draw by 30th September 2019.
  10. We will not be responsible to any qualifying customer if the Draw cannot go ahead, is delayed or cancelled because of a legal or regulatory issue, a systems failure, the failure by any third party to perform services or for any cause beyond our reasonable control.
  11. In all matters relating to the Draw, our decision is final and we will not respond to further questions or queries. We do not accept any liability for any letters or communications lost, damaged or delayed in transit.
  12. If we discover that you were not entitled to enter the Draw, falsely entered or your mortgage is in any way fraudulent, we can reclaim or recover any payment made, as well as any extra costs, losses, damages and expenses experienced on our part, including any costs or other amounts we suffer in paying out the prize again to a genuine winner.
  13. We may ask the winners to take part in further publicity. High level details of winners (surname, county and amount) will be available on request.

What are the qualifying mortgage accounts?

What about joint mortgage accounts?

You can only register for the Draw once, even if your mortgage is in the names of more than one person. Before you register, you will need to have permission from any other mortgage account holders.

What is a full application?

You will have completed a full application once you have seen, read and accepted the mortgage illustration, provided details on the property being mortgaged and paid any valuation fees where applicable.

What is an application number?

An application number is the reference number provided unique to your application and would normally be the following format, 10/12345678-9. This can be found on your paper work received during your application.

What if I change the product I have applied for?

In some circumstances a customer may decide to apply for a different product or change part of their application, such as loan amount or property, after the initial application has been started. This will not change your application number and therefore it remains that the full application needed to be completed between 8th April and 30th June 2019 to be eligible.

Do I need to be registered to be entered?

Yes you will need to register to enter via the link available on this site. Registration is open until midnight on 30th September 2019

Will I get confirmation of my entry?

You can receive a confirmation e-mail or text if you register online, we won’t send written confirmation for postal entries. Branch entries will be confirmed in the branch and you will have the option of receiving a confirmation e-mail or text.

Why isn't the Draw available overseas or in Northern Ireland?

Under the Gambling Act 2005 it is lawful for us to offer this type of Draw in England, Wales and Scotland. Different legislation applies overseas and in Northern Ireland, so unfortunately it's not possible to offer the Draw outside England, Wales and Scotland.

What if I am living abroad at the time of the Draw?

Only those living in England, Wales or Scotland at the time of the Draw can enter. Because of this, we have the right to ask you about where you live. We don’t count short term absences or holidays of up to 3 months from England, Wales or Scotland. Members of the Armed Forces with a BFPO address are able to enter the Draw.

How do I find out if I've won?

Within 30 days of the draw we will write to potential winners who have been selected and checked against our records, using the address we have from your mortgage application. We may also try to contact potential winners by other means, such as telephone or email, if we have these details.

How do I claim my prize?

We will invite you to come in to branch to claim your prize. When we contact you either by telephone, email or in writing, we’ll confirm how to arrange a branch visit to do this. We will require winners to provide reasonable proof of their identity.

Can I use the same document to verify ID & address?

Yes, if the document contains all the relevant information and can verify these criteria. Please remember that when verifying an address, the document must have an issue or post date of no more than 3 months prior to the Draw date.

How will I receive my prize?

We will need to do some checks before we can make any payment.

For any winners of £1,000 we will pay the prize directly into the account we have set up your direct debit to collect your mortgage payment from within 30 days of the Draw.

If you’re lucky enough to win the top prizes the mortgage balance will be paid off (up to a maximum of £300,000).

Payment will be made directly to the mortgage account. There is no cash alternative.

If you have more than one part to your loan, we will reduce each part by the same proportion that we apply your monthly payments.

Any early repayment charges which would normally be payable will be waived.

Can I see a list of winners?

A list of winners’ high level details (title, surname, county) can be requested in any of our branches.

When will the draw be held?
