Applying for a second Halifax credit card

A second Halifax Credit Card could give you the flexibility needed when making a large, one-off purchase or planning for something special.

Want to keep some costs separate from others? Planning on making purchases or balance transfers? Or have something else in mind? Whatever the reason, taking advantage of our different credit card features could give you more control of your finances.

For instance:
You already have a Halifax Credit Card and have transferred a balance to it, you now want to make a new purchase but would prefer to keep the balance separate. Why not take out a second card with us? You’ll keep the balances separate, plus you’ll have the convenience of being able to see both cards together in online banking.

1. Check you're eligible to apply.

You can apply for a second Halifax Credit Card, subject to the following conditions:

  • Your existing card with us isn't a Student Card.
  • You’re not applying within 60 days of having opened your first credit card with us.
  • You can only have a maximum of two credit cards with Halifax, and a maximum of five with Lloyds Banking Group (which also includes Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Bank).
  • Your application is subject to a full credit check.

2. Apply online.

Excludes customers holding or applying for a Student Card. You won’t be able to transfer a balance from your existing Halifax Credit Card.
