How much do solar panels cost?
The cost of your installation will depend on the number of panels you choose to install and whether you include a home battery in your system.
The standard price of an 8-panel system with a battery at Effective Home is around £8,500, including installation.
You could claim a discount if you use our trusted installation partner Effective Home and if you’re a qualifying Halifax mortgage customer you could also claim £1,000 cashback on your solar panels or battery with the Green Living Reward.
Are they right for my home?
Solar panels will work for most homes.
It's the direction, angle and size of your roof that will affect how much energy you’ll capture.
- South-facing roofs, without too much shade from trees or buildings, will capture the most energy.
- Solar panel systems facing east or west tend to capture 15 to 20% less energy than a south-facing system.
- The more panels the better. A 10 to 20m2 roof could deliver up to 45% of an average household’s electricity.
