Our online Share Dealing Account has no monthly or annual administration charges, and if you’re looking for a Stocks and Shares ISA then it’s only £12.50 per year.

The usual dealing commission charges apply on all of our share dealing accounts. Please note, other administration charges may also apply, so familiarise yourself with these charges before you apply.

  • Transferring your existing online share dealing account to Halifax Share Dealing

If you’d like to transfer a share dealing account held with another broker to us, you’ll need to open a Halifax Share Dealing Account, Stocks & Shares ISA or SIPP.

We aim to complete all account transfers within 30 days however international stocks and funds can take 6 - 8 weeks to transfer.

  • Transferring into a Share Dealing Account or Stocks and Shares ISA:

Once you've opened your share dealing account all you’ll need to do is sign in and complete our online transfer form, then just print it, sign and post it to the address on the transfer form and we’ll get in touch with your existing broker to start the transfer.

If you don’t have access to a printer we can post your transfer form to you, just click ‘please post my form to me’ once you’ve completed the form.

  • Transferring into a SIPP:

After you’ve opened your Halifax SIPP you’ll need to print, complete and post our SIPP transfer form to the address on the form, take a look at how to transfer a SIPP to us.

  • Depositing share certificates with Halifax Share Dealing

Depositing your existing share certificates is simple and once it’s done there’s no need to worry about missing paperwork – your shares will be held securely in our electronic nominee. You can then view and trade your shares online or over the phone.

To deposit your share certificate(s) you need to open a Halifax Share Dealing Account and complete a Transfer Form A and CREST Transfer Form for each stock you’re depositing. This process can take up to ten working days to complete.

Opening a new share dealing account online is simple - all you need to do is complete our online application form and you could be trading in minutes.

To open your account you’ll need:

  • Address details for the last three years
  • Debit card and bank details
  • National Insurance number (to open a Halifax Stocks and Shares ISA)
