Frequently asked questions

  • Your temporary car insurance policy starts from the date and time you entered when you completed your quote and purchase. Your insurance certificate, which is your proof of insurance, should arrive within 15-30 minutes. If you don’t receive it, please email: support@dayinsure.com

  • Yes. You may be able to extend your temporary car insurance policy. You have two options:

Option 1 – sign into your Dayinsure customer account, then look for the option to extend your policy. Just follow the on-screen instructions.

Option 2 – select the document link included in our confirmation email. Choose the option to purchase extra days, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

If you don’t meet the criteria, you simply won’t be able to extend your policy.

As when you purchased your policy, any extension is subject to approval.

An extension to your existing short-term motor insurance policy with us can only be on a like-for-like basis. You can extend your policy three times, or for up to a maximum of 30 days from the date your policy started – whichever comes first.

  • Once you’ve purchased your cover you can only extend the duration of your policy as long as your circumstances stay the same. You’ll need to cancel the cover and purchase again if your circumstances change, such as a change of name or address.

  • If you’d like to cancel a temporary car insurance policy, you have two options:

Option one – sign into your Dayinsure customer account, select the cancel button alongside the live policy you’d like to cancel, then follow the on-screen instructions.

Option two – select the document link provided in our confirmation email. Choose the option to cancel, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

For more information, review the following policy:

    Dayinsure refund policy (PDF 307KB).

You can cancel your policy at any time if there have been no claims, or incidents likely to give rise to a claim. You’ll be entitled to a refund of the unused premium.

If you cancel the policy before it starts, you’ll get a full refund of the premium.

If you cancel the policy after it’s started, we’ll recalculate your insurance premium from the date your policy started until the date you cancelled it. We’ll refund you the difference between the recalculated insurance premium and the insurance premium you already paid.

The cost of a short-term policy will be proportionally more than a longer-term policy, so you may receive less than you expect. We won’t be able to refund you for days or part days you’ve used.
