Before you begin

You'll need to key in your income and spending. Have any paperwork to hand that will help with this, such as bank statements or utility bills. Being prepared means it should only take around 20 minutes to complete.

You can choose to complete this form for yourself or for your household. In the calculator, you’ll be asked to complete your:

  • Sources of income
  • Required outgoings - things like mortgage or rent, council tax or transport
  • Arrears or debts - for example on credit cards and loans
  • Extra spending - like going to the cinema or gym membership.

Once you've done that you'll be provided with a summary of your income and spending. This shows the difference between the two, which you can print out and keep. If you need more advice on managing your money, we’ll give you some useful contacts.
