Up to £1,000 cashback for eligible first time buyers

If you're a first-time buyer, you could earn up to £1,000 cashback.

  • Get £500 cashback when you apply for and complete on a qualifying mortgage from 22 April 2024.
  • Plus, you could earn an extra £500 cashback if you purchase a home with an A or B EPC rating. Check your home's EPC rating.

First time buyer mortgages

£250 cashback for energy efficient homes

If you're a home mover, or you already have an energy-efficient home and you’re switching your mortgage to us from another lender, you could earn £250 cashback.

To qualify, your home must have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) with a rating of A or B. Check your home's EPC rating.

Cashback offer terms and conditions

  • To qualify for £500 of the First Time Buyer cashback offer, you must:

    • Be a First Time Buyer
    • Apply direct to Halifax (branch, phone or online) or applied to Halifax using a mortgage broker.
    • Apply for and complete on a qualifying Halifax first-time buyer mortgage from the 22 April 2024.

    You are not eligible for the offer if:

    • you are an employee of Lloyds Banking Group, who are applying for a Colleague Mortgage Rate on their entire mortgage
    • you are taking a Buy to Let mortgage.
       

    To qualify for the full £1000 cashback offer, you must:

    • meet the qualification criteria listed above.
    • be purchasing a property with an Energy Performance Review (EPC) A or B.
    • apply direct to Halifax (branch or phone) or apply to Halifax using a mortgage broker. If you submit an application online, you will not be eligible for the full £1000
    • apply for a qualifying fixed rate mortgage.

    First Time Buyers who complete on a property with an EPC A or B are eligible for the full £1k cashback. To qualify, you must have a valid EPC rating which is showing on the EPC register or a certificate confirming the property has an A or B performance rating. New build properties currently in development will not have an initial EPC rating, and in this instance, you should obtain a Predicated Energy Assessment (PEA) from the builder.

     

    Additional details

    1. Only one offer is available per customer.

    2. Joint accounts will be eligible if one of the customers is a First Time Buyer. Joint accounts will only be eligible for one payment.

    3. Cashback will be paid automatically on mortgage completion via your conveyancer. There is no need to register or claim to receive the cashback.

    4. Halifax reserves the right to change or withdraw the offer at any time.
