Making A Claim

If you need to make a claim, please call on 0344 2090472. Claim lines are open 24 hours a day.

You will need the following information:

  • Your policy number
  • The date and time of your accident
  • Details of any third party involvement
  • Details of any eye witnesses
  • If the police were involved

Proof of No Claim Discount

When you take out Halifax Car Insurance you’ll be asked for proof of any existing no claims discount. This could be a renewal invitation or an insurer's letter.

The proof must relate to a policy you've held within the last two years and must show:

  • Registration details of the vehicle
  • No claims discount in years or as a percentage
  • The renewal or expiry date of the policy
  • Details about any claims or losses.

To avoid the cost of your policy increasing or being cancelled, please send in your proof of no claims discount within 21 days of your policy start date.

At renewal, we’ll ask the panel to quote you again.

Changing Details

If you need to change any details please call on 0344 2090471. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am–9pm, Saturday and public holidays 9am-5pm, Sunday 10am-4pm. Alternatively you can make the following changes to your policy via the online Self–Service Centre.

  • Change your vehicle, cover level and vehicle use;
  • Add and remove additional drivers;
  • Change your address and amend your contact details;
  • Make payments and change your payment details.

Please note that any amends to your policy may result in a change in premium.
