What we will need

What we need to settle your claim:

  • The policyholder’s death certificate

If the policy is not held under trust we may also require the following to settle your claim:

  • A copy of the policyholder’s Will, if they left one.
  • Legal documentation such as Grants of Probate, Letters of Administration (in England and Wales) or Confirmation (in Scotland) to help us identify who payment should be made to.

These show that the person making the claim has a legal right to deal with the policyholder's estate. We will let you know if we need any of these documents when we first speak with you.

In some circumstances we may need to contact the doctor or coroner to get medical information.
