Coronavirus related payment holidays

We understand that if the Coronavirus has affected your income you may be looking at different ways to help you through this difficult time.

As an additional support, if your mortgage payments are less than 6 months in arrears, we may be able to offer you the option of a mortgage payment holiday. However, we recommend that you speak to us before applying.

Why is it important to speak to someone before applying for a Payment Holiday?

If you are experiencing or facing into long term financial difficulty a Payment Holiday may not be the best solution for you. This is because during the payment holiday period interest will continue to be charged and your mortgage balance will increase.

When it ends your new monthly payment will go up as it will be calculated on the new balance and if you have a repayment mortgage the payments you haven’t made will be spread over the remaining mortgage term; this means you will pay more interest over the term of your mortgage.

There may be other ways we can help which might be more suited to your circumstances, speaking to someone will help determine this.

What are my options if I still want to apply for a payment holiday?

If your mortgage is less than 6 months in arrears you can apply for a payment holiday by:

  • Calling us and speaking to one of our specialist advisers
  • Applying online but we would still recommend you talk to us after you’ve applied so we can make sure you get any further support you need

Please note - if your mortgage is 6 months or more in arrears you cannot apply for a payment holiday, you will need to contact us to discuss other options.
